Which is More Important?

Which “world” is more important? The one in which we live now? Or the one that we will live in forever? We will live forever in the next life, either in Hell or in Heaven. This life will not last more than a few years but the next will last forever. Which one should you live for? Which one should you prepare for? We should prepare for the next! We need to fear God and seek to know Him. (Proverbs 9:10) If we live and believe in Christ, we will not die. (John 11:25-26)

If the next world is of such great importance, we should work and live in this one as if we were getting ready for the next. We should be seeking to know Christ and live in Him so that we may live with Him in the next.

You might say, “There is no other life after this one!” If you say that, you are wrong. Everything that has been proven, proves that there is another life after this one. Not reincarnation, not purgatory, not moving to a higher cast or position in this world, and where you go in the next is not determined by how “good” you were in this one. “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, (Hebrews 9:27).” God judges on information given to us in the Bible. The Bible is true, and everything it has prophesied that has already happened, did so perfectly as the Bible said. You can take the statement in Hebrews as truth. There will be another life, we will be judged by God, we will live forever in Heaven or Hell. God does not judge us on being good or bad people in this life, but on if we believed in Jesus of Nazareth or not (John 3:36). If we have proclaimed the Lord Jesus and believed in Him who sent Him, we will be in Heaven with Him (John 10:9).

Where do you want to live forever? Heaven will not have us sitting around playing harps all day with nothing else to do. It will be paradise, whatever it is we will be doing. “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9).’” This means whatever you think it is going to be like, it will be better!! You cannot think of what it will be like, you cannot imagine what it will be like, our brains are not capable of handling the information.

If we cannot imagine what it will be like, we should be looking forward to the next life and not settling for our best life now. We should be casting off our best life now for a better life then! A life that cannot even be imagined!

We should be casting off the worlds idea of a good life, and look for what gets us into the next life. We should be studying what it takes to get us a reward in the next life. We should be thinking of this life as if it only lasted for a minute and living this life with our sights set on the next!

Hell will be torment without end. Eternal separation from God and all things good. It is a place so horrible that just a drop of water will provide some relief, but none will be given. People in Hell desire that no one would ever go there. They remember their life on earth and their loved ones left behind, but they cannot do anything about it. They cannot contact the living and cannot change their own state of torment. They have made their choice during their life on earth and must now live with the results. Luke 16:19-31
